    Sharing Space

    Track

Sharing Space can be defined as the smart, multiple and sustainable use of space, realized by using IT supported geo information for spatial planning, by implementing geo information for localisation and positioning, or by connecting geo information to other relevant data.

This theme is highly relevant as the amount of people living on our planet is constantly increasing. As a result of this, people struggle more and more to adjust to their decreasing living space. Problems with quality of life, logistics and safety are growing. The Netherlands are familiar with the challenges of sharing a limited space in the best possible way, being one most heavily used deltas in the world. Right now, the tremendous developments in this theme are mostly based on IT. The ability to connect data, make visualizations of plans and scenarios and the use of geo information everywhere by everyone will be more and more common use in the near future.

The development of IT-supported geo information is taking place in a more and more progressive way. From gathering, sharing, and disclosing geo information to linking and combining this information. And -in the next stage- from making geo information accessible and understandable to monitor and re-calibrate it. As a result, linking data, virtualizing plans and situations and uploading geo information by everybody, everywhere, will become increasingly normal. Location based services, augmented reality, 3 dimensional aspects, they all create a new world with another space. Sharing space: from static geo information bulwarks for some of us via IT to worldwide dynamic geo information networks for all of us.
