Team Kembla and Team iCreate to finals!

Apr. 29, 2010

Today the teams presented their final innovative TV concepts. All video’s were presented with sincere passion by each team and the jury was genuinely impressed by the creativity of each team. The concepts give a great insight into the future of TV and how TV as a medium is becoming more interactive and personalised. This insight shows us a definite good-bye to the couch potato.

Team Kembla and Team iCreate were chosen as the winners as they presented the best mix:  they were most creative, had the best business plan and gave best presentation of their concepts.

Both teams will now prepare for their presentation at the World Congress of IT, 25-27 May in Amsterdam. During the congress, the visitors will decide upon the winner.

Take a look at the video’s and let us know via the ‘comment’ section whether you think the jury was right!

Jury comments on first concepts

Apr. 13, 2010

It was an exciting afternoon for all contestants in The Battle: yesterday all teams presented a first impression of their innovative TV concepts. Some were slightly nervous, but everybody was looking forward to presenting their hard work.

Some of the shown concepts were already very specific and concrete, other videos needed more verbal explanation after the viewing. Nevertheless, the jury was very happy with the content, as they all witnessed a great leap in the progress the teams had made since the last jury meeting. The jury again provided the teams with useful feedback, such as “keep it simple, focus on one topic and execute that very well”.

The next and last feedback session will be on April 29, before the final teams are off to the World Congress  of IT in The Hague. Will yesterday’s best-performing team keep its momentum going or will the winning team be a surprise? We will not know the answer to that question until WCIT.

For now, we call out to all the teams and say: watch and learn from your competitors! See this website’s ‘videos’ section. Don’t forget to leave your comments!

Battle jury presents inspirational feedback to students during first jury assembly

Mar. 26, 2010

Yesterday, the jury provided all Battle teams with feedback on their first work. The theme of the video every team showed to the jury was 'Inspiration'

The jury was formed by Ine Poppe (producer, artist and journalist), Sam Warnaars, (NOS Project leader Mobile and Emerging Platforms) and Ivo Lochtman (Vice president Content UPC).

All competing teams prepared a 2.5 minute video demonstrating their vision on the future of TV. Some video's were very concrete and delivered a very clear picture of the outlook of TV as a medium. Others video's were truly 'inspirational', as they gave an well presented impression of what had inspired the students.

The jury had a critical mind, but stated to be pleasantly surprised by the quality of the work presented. The students were encouraged to further build upon their work presented.

All video's can be viewed on this website in the video section. Take a look and be inspired!
