About Mrs. Lies Janssen
Lies Janssen (Maastricht, 1953) has degrees in English and in Facility Management. She started as a teacher, but soon made a career switch to event and facility management. Throughout her career she was employed by both Dutch and international knowledge and capacity building institutes and businesses in a variety of sectors: energy, water, entertainment, telecommunications and sports.
As organiser and programme manager she was involved in EU- energy projects and activities of the International Telecommunications Union such as Geneva and Africa Telecom.
Since the nineties she has been working for water sector related institutes and businesses like: Unesco-IHE (international education Institute for professionals from all over the world) , Deltares and the Netherlands Water Partnership.
Lies Janssen has been a staff member of the Netherlands Water Partnership almost since its establishment in 1999 and in that capacity has been responsible for the coordination of many international events (like the World Water Forum, the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage, the IWA conference and exhibition) and gained extensive experience in organising and moderating water related events and discussions. Furthermore she is coordinator of the NWP Vietnam Platform, aimed at strenghtening the position of Dutch knowledge institutes and businesses in Vietnam.
In her spare time she is Vice President FISEC, an international youth sports organisation, acknowledged by the IOC.
