About Prof. Dr. Reinhard Madlener

Reinhard Madlener is a Full Professor of Energy Economics and Management and Director of the Institute for Future Energy Consumer Needs and Behavior (FCN) at RWTH Aachen University. FCN is one of the five institutes of the interdisciplinary E.ON Energy Research Center at RWTH. Prof. Madlener holds a PhD in Economics, an MSc in both International Business and Management Science and in Paedagogics of Economics and Business Administration from WU Wien, and a post-graduate Diploma in Economics from the Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS) Vienna. He teaches in microeconomics, energy economics, environmental economics, economics of technical change, economics of technological diffusion, and behavioral economics. His main research interests include technological innovation and diffusion in the energy domain, policy-related questions, behavioral aspects of investors and consumers, multi-criteria analysis, socio-economic aspects of energy use, the relationship between ICT and energy consumption, rebound effects, partial and general equilibrium modelling, and applied econometrics.
