About Mr. Drs. Harry Hendriks
Harry Hendriks is Chief Executive Officer of Philips Electronics Benelux, an organisation of 17.000 employees. Mr Hendriks is also a member of the executive committee of the employers' organisations VNO/NCW and FME-CWM as well as vice chairman of the Brainport Foundation, a European top technology region.
In his role as CEO Mr. Harry Hendriks has been actively engaged in optimizing cross border cooperation between businesses, governments and knowledge institutions, the triple helix at the heart of driving innovation. An excellent example is the development of the High Tech Campus (HTC) in Eindhoven, pivotal to the Brainport region. The HTC has grown into a succesfull fertile ecosystem and innovation powerhouse that houses a large variety of international companies, whose complementary competences ran from high tech to life sciences. The synergetic mix of knowledge in a setting of open innovation provides unique oportunities to improve amongst others the quality of care at lower costs in order to realize long term sustainable healthcare.
Furthermore, Philips is a frontrunner in building a case for e-health in Europe through innovative partnerships and intensive collaborations with key clinical and patient stakeholders. Philips believes home care is crucial for healthcare systems in the European Union to manage the growing need for care and resulting issues of chronic disease management and shortage of healthcare personnel. To underline its commitment Philips recently signed a long term partnership with Achmea Health, the largest Dutch health insurer, to cooperate in the development of innovative care solutions aimed at increasing the independence of chronic patients.
Mr Hendriks joined Philips in 1976. After holding various international positions within the company, Mr Hendriks returned to the Netherlands in 1995 as European marketing director in the Consumer Electronics division. In June 2002 he became CEO of Philips Electronics Nederland and in January 2009, CEO Philips Electronics Benelux.
Harry Hendriks studied Economics at the University of Tilburg.
