The Netherlands’ Cadastre, Land Registry & Mapping Agency (in short: Kadaster) collects and registers spatial data of property and the rights involved. This also goes for ships, aircraft and telecom networks. Doing so, Kadaster protects legal certainty. Kadaster is also responsible for national mapping and is an advisory body for land-use issues. Its information is available predominantly through online web services, including information on energy labels of houses and underground cables and pipelines. Its main customer groups are civil-law notaries, local authorities, businesses, financial institutions and private individuals. Kadaster maintains the key registers Cadastre and Topography.

Best practices IT
Kadaster’s IT efforts are aimed at providing society with the benefits it expects: high-quality data, low prices, easy access and interconnectivity. Kadaster is proud to have earned international recognition for its contributions to electronic government. It is a triple nominee and one-time winner of the international eGovernment Awards. Through its web service Kadaster-on-line, Kadaster provides up to an average of 19 million information products each year. Kadaster systems are able to automatically process deeds that were conveyed electronically. Kadaster also participates in the European Land Information Service (EULIS), making it possible for European land registries to inquire into each other’s registries.

Kadaster & WCIT 2010
Kadaster is partner for WCIT because it believes it serves society’s interests best when it is able to incorporate the latest developments into its services and products. It therefore aims to be present where leading parties meet and share their knowledge. Kadaster believes that well-accessible spatial information is vital for supporting authorities to face the global challenges of present times: spatial planning, public order and safety, disaster management, poverty reduction and climate change.

Track leader ‘Sharing Space’
Kadaster is involved in the WCIT-track ‘Sharing Space’. It provides the track leader, Mrs Dorine Burmanje, Chair of the Kadaster Executive Board. Mrs Burmanje is also the newly selected president of EuroGeographics.
Kadaster’s involvement is also visible through show cases of latest development in the WCIT-pavilion.
