SIDN. The company behind .nl. And more.
As the registry for the Netherlands’ .nl Internet domain, we are responsible for the registration and proper functioning of more than 3,5 million .nl domain names and thus for the traceability of millions of websites and mailboxes. It is a role that is very important to the Dutch economy and society and requires cutting-edge technology and a great deal of expertise from our workforce. After China, Germany and the UK, the Netherlands has the world’s fourth-largest ccTLD. Furthermore, the .nl domain is not only one of the largest, it is also one of the most stable and safest domains in the world.

A national organization with an international role
SIDN views the internet as the medium for the globe’s citizens to communicate, socialize, do business and as a crucial driver for personal and economic development and democracy. We therefore consider it our responsibility to contribute to maintaining and further develop the internet as a single, interoperable global medium, diverse, open and accessible to all. We are actively involved with the technical, political and policy developments surrounding the internet on a national and global stage.

WCIT 2010
SIDN supports a number of special internet-related projects, among which a joint project set up by the government and business community in the Netherlands, with the aim of increasing digital skills and digital awareness. We strongly believe that we need to ensure that all groups within our society participate fully in the digital society. Our involvement with the eInclusion track at the WCIT2010 is therefore one that fits with our role and our objectives perfectly.
