eGovernment: Challenged
Hey Gov, can you hear me?: Social media, opportunity or threat?
G104+G105
9:00 - 10:30 hrs. With the rise of the Web2.0 it has become much easier to accomplish interaction via the internet. Both the EC and Obama Administration have recognized the potential of these developments for the interaction between governments and citizens, and stress the importance of the internet and the power of the community. However, this change in online dynamics and social interaction poses serious challenges to both governments and politics. How should government services be (re-)defined and what role do governments still have in that? And to what extent has our democracy to be reinvented in the light of this new culture of social collaboration? In this session we present and discuss views from local, national and international perspectives, supported by Twitter and MSN polls.
