eGovernment: Improved
The Tower of Babel: the urgency of semantic interoperability
E104+E105
14:00 - 15:30 hrs.The Tower of Babel in ancient Babylon makes a perfect example for the urgency of semantic interoperability. In this session the keynote addresses and two cases illustrate the urgency of semantic interoperability. Standardization in languages and technologies, such as RDF, RDFS, OWL, and SPARQL alone is not enough. We need to make sure we get agreement on the meaning of concepts, so that the information can be interpreted independently of the source application, but within the context of the end-user likes citizens, businesses and public servants. The panel discussion challenges you to see what's possible and how eGovernment really can work.
